Job scope:

The Applications Developer is responsible for building, maintaining, and supporting custom software across our business — from shop-floor systems that support production, to reporting and workflow tools that support Sales, Accounting, Quality, and other departments. The role sits at the intersection of our Visual ERP system and the custom applications that extend it, integrate with it, and surface its data in ways the standard system cannot.

The work ranges from day-to-day user support and troubleshooting to full custom application development. It includes maintaining existing internal applications, building new ones as business needs evolve, and supporting the end users who depend on them. The common thread is translating operational and administrative requirements into working software and keeping that software running reliably for the people who use it every day.

Specific responsibilities: On-site.

Design, build, and maintain custom applications that support manufacturing, sales, accounting, quality, and other departments
Integrate custom applications with Visual ERP for work orders, labor, inventory, customer, and financial data
Design and manage the databases that support custom applications (primarily PostgreSQL and SQL Server)
Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and analytical tools that provide visibility across production, inventory, and financial operations
Maintain and incrementally modernize existing internal applications (Classic ASP / SQL Server), including the plant-floor production monitoring system, work order receipt and reconciliation tools, the internal ticketing system, and the extrusion tooling log
Provide ongoing user support for custom applications — troubleshooting issues, answering questions, and resolving data problems as they arise
Support the hardware directly tied to custom applications, including shop-floor terminals, barcode scanners, and label printers
Work directly with Operations, Sales, Accounting, Quality, and other departments to understand requirements and translate them into working software
Partner with external vendors on scoped deliverables
Maintain documentation, change control, and audit trail appropriate to a regulated manufacturing environment
Spend regular time with end users — on the plant floor and in the offices — observing how systems are actually used and identifying improvements
Reports to the Operations Manager. On-site role based at the Trenton facility.

Qualifications:
Required: On-site

2+ years of software development experience with demonstrated projects
Full-stack web application development — front end, back end, and database
Relational database proficiency (PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or similar) including schema design and SQL
Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to explain technical decisions in plain language to non-technical colleagues across all levels of the business
Comfort working in both a manufacturing plant environment and an office environment
Self-directed work habits and the judgment to ask good questions when requirements are ambiguous
Preferred

Experience with Classic ASP, VB6, or other legacy Microsoft application stacks
Experience integrating with ERP systems (Visual, SAP, Infor, Dynamics, or similar)
Experience building reports and dashboards against ERP data
Background in manufacturing or a quality-regulated environment (ISO 9001 or equivalent)
Familiarity with modern web frameworks (.NET Core, Node.js, React, or similar)
Experience with AI-assisted development tools
Education

Post-secondary credential in software development, computer science, or a related technical field — or equivalent demonstrated experience. Portfolio weighted alongside formal credentials.
