Process Engineer or Technologist:
Job Scope and Function
This role is primarily responsible for providing manufacturing process knowledge and support at a wire & cable production facility. Other responsibilities will include doing projects and developing knowledge of products and materials. The development of the technical information documentation is required to provide instructions or guidance to manufacturing.
Responsibilities
• Establish operating parameters for wire production processes including PVC compounding, extrusion, rewind, cabling, bunching, and drawing.
• Provide technical support to Manufacturing to resolve processing issues at the operations listed above.
• Lead product development trials, including sourcing of necessary tooling and materials, and coordination with production.
• Optimize and improve manufacturing processes and product characteristics. Update manufacturing instructions as required.
• Instruct and train operators in new or revised equipment and processes.
• Projects to improve manufacturing processes.
Qualifications:
1) Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineer or Technologist with mechanical experience and aptitude in industrial manufacturing.
2) Administrative, organizational and analytical skills a must.
3) Proficiency in use MS Office tools; especially Excel.
4) Data analysis methods, SPC and data logging.
5) Good verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to handle professional business communications with customers and suppliers.
6) Proficiency in math, physics & materials sciences is a key requirement in this role.
7) Industrial Process Control such as Drive and PLC experience would be a definite asset but can be learned provided appropriate technical.
